I have lived in Memphis my whole life (besides my years at Ole Miss) and don’t ever want to leave. After marrying my college sweetheart, we both started work in public accounting. I am thankful that God redeemed my health after a pretty serious bout with Crohn’s disease. One of my biggest answers to prayer was being healthy enough to have kids. We have 3 beautiful girls, and I was fortunate to be able to stay home with them until 2017 when they all started school 5 days a week. Now I have this photography business and am also a CPA at my husband's financial planning firm, Eaglestrong Financial.
I have always loved pictures and scrapbooking but didn’t get a nice camera until my oldest was born. In all honesty, starting a photography business was not even on my radar a few months before this started. I just kept trying to take better pictures of my girls and all of the sudden, everything just started to click! As much as I love my girls, it is really challenging to stay home with all the drama and not lose your sanity. As I practiced my photography with my girls, this passion developed. I see it as another way that God redeemed a part of my life…this time, it’s a redemption of the challenging years with littles at home and helping me find purpose in being a mom and finding passions beyond being a mom.
Believe me, I know it’s weird that a CPA decided to be a photographer. Even though I’m very right-brained and love numbers and math, I also always need to be doing something creative. Maybe it’s my way of staying balanced.
*Just for the record, it is pronounced like Dodie, not Dotty…in case you were wondering :)
